Ducati SportClassic SC1000S - Featured Motorcycle

Ducati SC1000S

The SC1000S is powered by the outstanding Desmodue 1000cc Dual Spark engine. The torquey air-cooled 90º L-Twin is the perfect match to power bikes with a sporting soul.

The cylinders, with their traditional cooling fins and classic ‘L’ configuration, are direct descendants of the original Taglioni design. The latest 2 valve Desmo system, fuel injection and computer controlled engine management ensure that the 1000 Dual Spark engine is powerful, dependable and thrilling to ride. The bike is equipped with a wet clutch for less clutch lever pull effort and quieter operation. Engine capacity: 992cc; Power: 92bhp; Weight: 181kg
The SC1000 design takes advantage of the beauty of the signature Ducati tubular Trellis frame. The renowned strength and rigidity of the ALS 450 tubing has been further improved with complex triangulation and use of the engine as a ‘stressed member.’

Classic style and modern sport performance: the Ducati Sport Classic family feature motorcycles that capture the essential beauty, timeless style and emotion of Engineer Fabio Taglioni’s original Ducati bikes of the 1970s. While retaining the best of the past, they have been developed using the latest technology and engineering, creating thoroughly modern motorcycles that live up to today’s standards of road-going performance.

About: the standard 2009 Ducati SC1000S has the front suspension from the earlier Sport1000, while wearing a retro styled fairing. The swinging arms rear suspension has the same dual-shock as the GT1000's, instead of the asymmetrical swing arm with single left-side shock, the SC1000S does not support the twin stacked mufflers on the right side as the earlier Sport1000. The SC1000S has a removable rear seat cowl which covers the pillion seat. In 2008 the Sport1000 biposto was available which had more raised handlebars and also could be equipped with Ducati lower fairings.

The Ducati’s 2009 SportClassic SC1000S has superb handling with firm suspension with a typical Ducati feel to it, with slow steering matched to exceptional stability. Ducati precision engineering brings us this modern day café racer with the best power-to-weight ratio in its category.

During the 1970s, the norm was to remove all unnecessary parts from a motorcycle to lighten the machine in aid to increasing the performance as the 70s was the golden age of the café racer culture. Many racing bikes of this period ware styled with half fairings and windscreen wrapped around the main headlight. When Ducati created the most excellent SC1000S they only had one thing in mind and that was to recreate the style and looks of a true cafe racer, which you must agree the SC1000S is all that and more.
